I'm about 2/3 of the way through Heretics now, and I was suddenly reminded of a great quote from the otherwise execrable Star Trek 5: "What does God need with a starship?"

I bought the Kindle version for my iPhone. Not because I'm unconcerned with Amazon's recent behavior, but because the price was better than the physical book (about a 20% discount) and for "paperbacks," at least, I'd rather carry the book around on my phone than as paperback. Hopefully, Amazon won't pull a "1984" or go out of business someday. If they ever remove their DRM, those two concerns would become moot and I would go on a buying spree. Until then, I'm only going to buy a handful of Kindle books, and the Apotheosis trilogy represents about half of that.

I picked up my copy on Sunday at the local Barnes and Noble, looking forward to reading it, although I suspect that shortly thereafter I'll be annoyed that part three is still months away.
